Computing Support

We provide on-demand, virtualized computing environments separate from the CDC network in a private cloud. IIU-hosted virtual desktops and servers are accessible anywhere in the world. Programs use our virtual project space to perform alternatives analysis, user acceptance testing, and baseline configuration development, and to estimate what hardware and software resources are needed.  You can learn even more about our cloud hre.   You can request our cloud services through our Service Desk.

Consultation

IIU’s cross-functional team is ready to provide you guidance and strategies to best address your unique informatics and technology challenges.

Software Product Development

We quickly develop cutting-edge software applications for mobile devices and the Web. We also create visual mockups (early design sketches) and prototypes to test new ideas and concepts. This rapid prototyping enables programs to better refine requirements and test software and architectural approaches without the heavy commitment of resources.

We recommend reviewing the two documents below before submitting a request through our Service Desk.

Collaboration Space

IIU manages a physical collaboration space at CDC’s Century Center campus in Atlanta, with demonstration capabilities, large video displays, Smart Board technologies, and Windows and Mac OS X workstations in an enclaved local area network—enabling in-person meetings for brainstorming, social media campaigns, communication activities, training, focus groups, and software demonstrations.  Contact us through our Service Desk to reserve the space.

Evaluation and Testing

Our team provides structured evaluations of technology, practices, and tools to assess their potential impact for public health. IIU staff can review existing or planned informatics or IT tools to help programs efficiently integrate new approaches.  You can learn more about our structured technology evaluation tool here as well as an example evaluation.

Mobile Device Loan

We have mobile devices for loan to help you test new tools and/or technologies. These include Android, Apple, and Windows devices.

Design Support (UI/UX)

IIU design support focuses on how the end user perceives a product or resource (eg., image, website, mobile application).  Our goal is to assist you in providing your users with the most pleasing experience possible in terms of utility, emotional appeal, ease of use, and overall value. Our UI/UX services include providing consultation on your existing ressoures, as well as designing and prototyping new resources (e.g., new design elements, low and high fidelity digital mockups – both non-functional and functional).  As with our other resources, you can request IIU Design Support through our Service Desk.

Technology Help

Our team can help you with troubleshooting virtual machines, code modifications, and other technology issues.
