PHTweet
Project Type: Prototype | Start Date: 7/07/2011 | Platform: Web | Version: 1.0
Social Media and Situational Awareness: Monitoring the Twitter Stream for Public Health-Related Trends.
PHTweet is a web application prototype created by the Informatics R&D Lab team to monitor the Twitter stream for a specified set of public health terms. This project helps with situational awareness needs by leveraging the ubiquity of this social medium to survey public health-related trends. The user has several options for how he/she would like to view the Twitter data: Bubble View, Graph View, or Relationship View. Additionally, there are temporal options for displaying the data: daily, hourly, or in 2-week periods (the temporal options depend upon the selected view).

SAMWise+
Project Type: Prototype | Start Date: 2/05/2010 | Platform: Web | Version: 1.0
Health Literacy Index Web Tool
The goal of this prototype has been to work with subject matter experts to ultimately create a digital version of a Health Literacy Index (HLI). As an intermediate step to creating an HLI, a digital tool, Samwise+, has been created based on the Suitiablity Assessment of Materials (SAM) tool. SAMWise+ has the potential to be an important step forward, has it encourages individuals to use a scoring tool, other than readability formulas. One other core goal is to scan existing literature to identify which of the SAM criteria can be automated/digitized and if so, the level of effort necessary to automate the scoring.
