EpiCollect
Project Type: Structured Evaluation | Start Date: 3/01/2011 | End Date: 3/31/2011 Platform: iOS/Android/Web | Version: Review
A Generic Data Collect Tool for the Mobile Epidemiologist
This evaluation focused on EpiCollect, a data collection tool designed for iOS (iPhone, iPad) and Android devices to allow epidemiologists to rapidly design forms, share forms with a small group and use the forms to collect data directly using their mobile device.
EpiCollect is an open source, mobile app for collecting generic form data. While this initial release suffers from significant limitations, the app shows promise as a way to rapidly design forms, collect data in the field and share data within a project. It should be considered by informaticians in low resource environments interested in collecting public health related data using forms.
This evaluation was created using the CDC Informatics Research and Development Unit (IRDU) Guide to Public Health Informatics Structured Technology Evaluations.
